- Personal care: UV-absorbing active that absorbs UVB radiation in the 290–320 nm range
- Sunscreen lotions, creams and sprays: photoprotection without insoluble mineral filters
- OTC analgesics: active ingredient in muscle rubs, joint creams and pain-relief gels
- Water-soluble UV filter for clear, aqueous-phase sunscreen and cosmetic products
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing: intermediate for salicylate-based dermatological preparations
- It functions as a topical analgesic agent.
