Description

Murumuru butter (CAS 356065-49-1), also traded as Astrocaryum murumuru and known in Turkish markets as Kati Murumuru Yağı, is a tropical seed fat derived from the murumuru palm native to the Amazon basin.

It functions as an emollient and emulsifier across personal care formulations and specialty food applications. In cosmetics, it is used as a base ingredient in hair conditioners, lip balms, and body butters.

Its high lauric and myristic acid content supports moisture retention and smooth spreadability on skin and hair. Food manufacturers incorporate it as a cocoa butter alternative or extender in confectionery coatings.

Its melting profile suits solid chocolate and compound coating production. In adhesives and sealant formulations, it serves as a bio-based plasticizing component where renewable raw material sourcing is required.

The product is supplied as a solid ivory-to-white fat, typically available in block, pellet, or flake form for ease of handling. Standard commercial grades include cosmetic and food-grade options.

Specifications are aligned to FCC standards where applicable. Refined and crude variants are both available on the market, with refined grades preferred for applications requiring low odor and color.
