Polybutylene

Polybutylene (CAS 9003-28-5), also marketed as poly-1-butene, is a semi-crystalline polyolefin resin.

Where is Polybutylene used?

• Plastics processing: flexibility modifier and rheology agent in polymer blends and finished resin systems
• Hot and cold water pipe systems: long-term creep resistance and pressure retention in extruded plumbing tube
• Automotive: under-hood components and flexible tubing
• Polyolefin blending: softening modifier adjusting stiffness and flow in polypropylene and polyethylene compounds
• Film and packaging: improved seal strength and flexibility in multilayer structures
• It provides dimensional stability under sustained heat exposure.
