Description

Taurine (CAS 107-35-7), also recognized by its FEMA 3813 designation, is a naturally occurring sulfonic amino acid sourced through both synthetic production and fermentation.

It functions as a buffering agent, osmoregulator, and bioactive ingredient across food, pharmaceutical, and personal care manufacturing. In energy drinks, it is dosed to support electrolyte balance.

It is a standard label claim ingredient that drives consumer purchasing. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as an active excipient in ophthalmic solutions and bile acid conjugation therapies.

It is also utilized in parenteral nutrition formulations. In pet food production, it is a mandatory additive for feline diets, where deficiency causes documented cardiac conditions.

This makes it a specification-critical ingredient for compliant formulas. Personal care formulators incorporate it into hair care and skin conditioning products for moisture-retention.

The product is supplied as a white crystalline powder in packaging ranging from kilogram quantities to multi-tonne bulk. Standard grades include food-grade (FCC) and USP.

Pharmaceutical-grade (BP/Ph. Eur.) is also available, with purity typically at 98.5% or higher. Feed-grade material is available for animal nutrition applications.

These materials are subject to separate regulatory specifications. Our supply chain ensures consistent quality and availability for all industrial and laboratory requirements.
