Description

Thiodipropionic acid (CAS 111-17-1), also known by the trade name Tyox A and abbreviated as TDPA, is a sulfur-containing dicarboxylic acid used industrially as an antioxidant and stabilizer.

Approved as E388 in food applications, it protects fats, oils, and polymers from oxidative degradation during processing and storage. It is a critical component for maintaining material integrity.

In plastics and polymer manufacturing, TDPA functions as a secondary antioxidant synergist, extending the service life of polyolefins and other thermoplastics when combined with hindered phenol primary antioxidants.

Food-grade applications include use as an antioxidant in edible fats and oils, where it inhibits rancidity and maintains product quality through extended shelf life. This ensures long-term stability for consumers.

In personal care formulations, it stabilizes lipid-rich creams and ointments against oxidative breakdown. Pharmaceutical manufacturers also employ TDPA as a stabilizer in formulations and as a precursor in synthesis.

The material is utilized in processes where controlled reactivity of the thioether group is required. Thiodipropionic acid is supplied as a white crystalline powder for easy handling and precise dosing.

Standard commercial grades include food-grade material meeting E388 specifications and technical-grade product for polymer and industrial applications. These meet rigorous global safety and performance requirements.

Packaging typically ranges from small quantities for specialty formulation work up to bulk quantities for industrial polymer producers. We ensure high quality standards for all industrial and food-grade shipments.
