D-camphor

D-Camphor (CAS 464-49-3), also sold as natural camphor, is the naturally derived enantiomer of camphor obtained primarily from the wood of Cinnamomum camphora.

Where is D-camphor used?

• Food and beverage: flavoring agent under FEMA 2230, contributing a cool, minty, slightly medicinal note to confectionery and certain liqueurs
• Personal care: oral care products such as toothpastes and mouthwashes
• Fine fragrance and cosmetics: functional fragrance component adding sharp, camphorous top notes to balms, creams and topical preparations
• Camphor oil serves as a commercially traded intermediate for fragrance compounding.
