Description

Hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate (CAS 53124-00-8), commercially recognized as E1442 and HPDSP, is a chemically modified starch produced by combining hydroxypropylation and cross-linking treatments.

It delivers superior freeze-thaw stability, viscosity control, and resistance to processing stress in food and industrial systems where native starches fall short. In food manufacturing, E1442 is the preferred thickener.

It acts as a stabilizer in products such as fruit fillings, dairy desserts, soups, and sauces that undergo retort, freeze-thaw cycling, or high-shear processing. Baby food and infant formula producers rely on HPDSP.

This ingredient ensures consistent texture performance across sterilization temperatures. In the paper and pulp industry, it functions as a surface sizing and coating binder, improving paper strength and printability.

Textile operations apply it as a warp sizing agent to protect yarn during weaving, reducing breakage and improving throughput. Hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate is supplied as a white to off-white powder.

Food-grade material is available to E1442 specifications under EU food additive regulations, with FCC-grade also commonly offered for markets requiring that standard.

Industrial grades are available for paper and textile applications where food compliance is not required. This versatile modified starch provides essential functionality across diverse manufacturing sectors.
