Punicic acid

Punicic acid (CAS 544-72-9), also known as trichosanic acid, is a conjugated fatty acid naturally concentrated in pomegranate seed oil, where it typically constitutes the dominant lipid fraction.

It is sourced by formulators and ingredient buyers primarily as a bioactive lipid for use in functional food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic applications. In cosmetic formulations, pomegranate seed oil is highly valued.

Standardized oil is incorporated into facial serums, anti-aging creams, and skin-repair products targeting oxidative stress at the formulation level. Nutraceutical manufacturers use it as a conjugated fatty acid ingredient.
