Description

L-Glutamic acid (CAS 56-86-0), also recognized by its E-number E620, is a naturally occurring amino acid used commercially as a flavor enhancer and pH buffer. It serves as a precursor in the synthesis of glutamate salts including monosodium glutamate.

It functions across food production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and personal care formulation as both an active ingredient and a processing aid. In food and beverage manufacturing, E620 contributes umami taste and is used directly in seasoning blends.

It is frequently utilized in soups and processed foods where the free acid form is preferred over its sodium salt. Pharmaceutical producers rely on L-Glutamic acid as an intermediate in the synthesis of active ingredients and peptide APIs.

It is also essential for infusion solutions requiring precise amino acid profiling. In cosmetic and personal care formulations, it acts as a humectant and skin-conditioning agent in moisturizers, serums, and hair care products.

Feed and fermentation industries also use it as a nitrogen source and metabolic precursor in microbial culture media. L-Glutamic acid is supplied as a white crystalline powder in food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade specifications.

Recognized grades include FCC, USP, and AJI97, with purity levels typically at 99% or above. Bulk supply is available in multi-kilogram bags through to metric ton quantities for industrial use.

These supply options support both industrial-scale and specialty formulation procurement needs. The material ensures consistent performance across diverse chemical, nutritional, and technical applications in global markets.
