Where is Potassium benzoate used?

• Food and beverage: preserves acidic products such as carbonated drinks, fruit juices, condiments, and pickled goods
• Cosmetics: preservative active in rinse-off and leave-on products including shampoos, lotions, and wipes
• Pharmaceuticals: preservative in oral liquid formulations and topical preparations
• It also functions as a buffering agent.

Good to know: Preferred over sodium benzoate for its lower sodium contribution to the final product formulation. Often combined with other antimicrobials for efficacy.
