Description

Nicotinic acid (CAS 59-67-6), also known commercially as E375 and Niacin, is a water-soluble B-vitamin (B3) used across food, pharmaceutical, and personal care manufacturing. It functions as a nutrient fortifier, acidulant, and catalyst precursor depending on the application sector. In food and beverage manufacturing, nicotinic acid is approved for flour and cereal fortification, restoring B-vitamin content lost during processing. Pharmaceutical producers use it as an active ingredient in vitamin B3 supplements and as a precursor in the synthesis of nicotinamide.

In personal care formulations, it supports skin-conditioning actives, particularly in products targeting uneven tone and barrier function. Specialty chemical manufacturers also employ it as a ligand or precursor in catalyst systems for organic synthesis processes. Nicotinic acid is supplied as a white crystalline powder. Standard grades include USP, BP, Ph. Eur., and food-grade specifications, with food-grade material conforming to purity requirements for direct food contact applications.

FCC-grade material is available for North American food and dietary supplement markets. This ensures compliance with strict safety standards across various global jurisdictions and industrial requirements for high-purity chemical sourcing. The material is also available in EP and Ph.Eur. compliant forms to meet European pharmaceutical standards. These certifications guarantee the chemical integrity and consistency required for sensitive manufacturing environments and large-scale production.
