Polyphosphoric acid

Polyphosphoric acid (CAS 8017-16-1), or PPA, is a concentrated mixture of condensed phosphoric acids made by dehydrating orthophosphoric acid.

Where is Polyphosphoric acid used?

• Asphalt and bitumen modification: improves rutting resistance and high-temperature performance of paving binders, reducing polymer additive needs
• Water treatment: sequesters hardness ions and inhibits scale and corrosion in distribution systems
• Mining and metals processing: pH regulation and flocculation aid in mineral separation circuits
• Agricultural formulations: phosphorus source in fertilizer production, with high P2O5 content for concentrated nutrient delivery
• It functions as a high-efficiency phosphorylating and sequestering agent.
