Polyoxymethylene

Polyoxymethylene (CAS 9002-81-7), also known as acetal resin or POM plastic, is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic.

Where is Polyoxymethylene used?

• Automotive: fuel system components, door lock mechanisms, gear assemblies
• Electronics: connector housings, switches, precision insulators
• Construction: window fittings, fasteners, plumbing components
• General plastics processing: competes with nylon and polycarbonate
• It is used for machined and injection-molded components.

Good to know: Copolymer grades offer broader chemical resistance and improved thermal stability than homopolymer grades. Not to be confused with nylon or polycarbonate, with which it competes.
