Description

Hydrogenated lecithin (CAS 92128-87-5), also known as HSPC, is a fully or partially saturated phospholipid derived from lecithin through catalytic hydrogenation. This process eliminates unsaturated fatty acid bonds.

The resulting material is a more oxidatively stable emulsifier suited to demanding formulation and processing conditions. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, HSPC is a primary lipid component in liposomal drug delivery systems.

Its higher phase transition temperature enables stable encapsulation of active ingredients. Food manufacturers use this ingredient as an emulsifier in fat-based systems, chocolate coatings, and margarine products.

Oxidative stability is a priority over standard lecithin in these applications. In cosmetic and personal care formulations, it functions as a skin-conditioning emulsifier in creams, serums, and liposomal systems.

It targets active ingredient penetration and serves rheology modification in topical and oral dosage forms. This ensures consistent viscosity across temperature ranges for various specialized industrial applications.

Hydrogenated lecithin is supplied as a white to off-white powder or waxy solid. Pharmaceutical-grade material is available to USP and Ph. Eur. specifications for high-purity manufacturing needs.

These grades feature defined phosphatidylcholine content relevant to liposomal applications. Food-grade supply is also available, with grade selection typically driven by purity requirements and regulatory frameworks.
