Description

Allyl methacrylate (CAS 96-05-9), commonly abbreviated as AMA and sold under the trade name Ageflex AMA, is a bifunctional monomer carrying two distinct polymerizable groups.

This dual reactivity makes it a preferred cross-linking agent in polymer synthesis, where controlled network density and cure response are critical to end-product performance.

In coating formulations, AMA introduces cross-link density that improves hardness, chemical resistance, and adhesion to demanding substrates including metals and plastics.

Adhesive and sealant manufacturers incorporate it into acrylic and methacrylate systems to tune cohesive strength and flexibility across a range of cure chemistries.

Electronics producers use AMA in photoresists and encapsulant resins where precise cross-link architecture determines pattern resolution and long-term dielectric stability.

In plastics and polymer compounding, it functions as a reactive modifier to compatibilize blends or graft functional groups onto polymer backbones.

Allyl methacrylate is supplied as a clear liquid, typically inhibited with hydroquinone monomethyl ether to prevent premature polymerization during storage and transport.

It is available in technical and monomer-grade specifications, with purity levels commonly at 98% or higher. Packaging ranges from drum quantities to ISO tank for bulk procurement.
