Description

Olanzapine (CAS 132539-06-1), also referenced in procurement as LY-170053, is an atypical antipsychotic active pharmaceutical ingredient used in the manufacture of finished-dose psychiatric medications.

It is the primary API in treatments targeting schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, supplied to pharmaceutical manufacturers for tablet, orally disintegrating tablet, and injectable formulations.

The largest commercial demand comes from solid oral dosage manufacturers producing conventional film-coated tablets for long-term psychiatric maintenance therapy. These formats require high-purity API.

Orally disintegrating tablet formats require tightly controlled particle size to ensure dissolution performance and dose uniformity. Injectable depot formulations represent a growing segment in the market.

These specialized grades require defined polymorphic form and impurity profiles. Contract manufacturers and generic pharmaceutical producers also source the material as an intermediate for bioequivalent products.

Olanzapine is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline powder. Standard commercial grades include USP, BP, and Ph. Eur. specifications for regulated market supply.

ICH-compliant impurity profiling is expected for all batches. Material is typically available in kilogram and multi-kilogram quantities with GMP-certified documentation packages required for procurement.
