Description

Gabapentin (CAS 60142-96-3), also known under the brand name Neurontin®, is a gamma-aminobutyric acid analogue used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient in finished dosage form manufacturing.

It functions as the primary API in anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain formulations supplied to pharmaceutical manufacturers and contract packagers worldwide for various clinical applications.

Gabapentin is the core API in oral solid dosage forms, such as capsules and tablets, manufactured for epilepsy and nerve pain indications, making it a high-volume procurement target.

Generic drug producers and contract manufacturers sourcing for regulated markets require material that meets strict pharmacopoeial specifications for potency and impurity profiling during production.

In API synthesis pipelines, it also serves as a reference standard or intermediate for structurally related compounds under development by research and development laboratories globally.

Some specialty formulators evaluate gabapentin in topical compounding applications, where it is incorporated into creams for localized pain management and specialized patient care solutions.

Gabapentin is supplied as a white crystalline powder in quantities ranging from kilogram lots to multi-tonne commercial volumes. It is available in USP, BP, and Ph. Eur. grades.

These grades support regulatory submissions across major markets. Certificates of Analysis, DMF references, and GMP documentation are standard requirements buyers should confirm with suppliers.
