Riboflavin
Description
Riboflavin (CAS 83-88-5), also known as E101(i) in food applications, is a water-soluble B-vitamin used across food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic manufacturing. It functions as both a nutritional supplement and a natural yellow colorant.
This dual-purpose ingredient provides formulators with a versatile raw material for various industrial applications. In food and beverage production, it is used to fortify products such as breakfast cereals and infant formula.
It is also commonly found in dairy alternatives and energy drinks to meet nutritional labeling requirements. As a colorant, it delivers a stable yellow-to-orange hue in confectionery, sauces, and processed foods.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers incorporate it into multivitamin tablets, B-complex capsules, and parenteral nutrition solutions. In these applications, it serves as an active nutritional ingredient for human health.
In cosmetics, it is used in face masks, serums, and skin-conditioning formulations. Its antioxidant activity supports product positioning in the growing nutricosmetics and wellness segments of the beauty market.
The material is supplied as a fine crystalline yellow-orange powder. Standard grades include USP, BP, Ph. Eur., and food-grade specifications to ensure high purity and safety for all consumers.
The FCC grade is available for food and dietary supplement applications requiring strict compliance. Feed-grade material is also commercially available for premix and animal nutrition use in agriculture.
