Description

Guar gum (CAS 9000-30-0), also sold as Cyamopsis gum, guar flour, and classified as E412 in food applications, is a natural galactomannan polysaccharide derived from the guar plant.

It functions as a high-performance thickener, binder, and stabilizer across food, industrial, and personal care markets. In food manufacturing, it thickens and stabilizes products such as ice cream and sauces.

It is also used in dairy beverages and gluten-free baked goods, where it controls texture and prevents syneresis. Personal care formulators incorporate it into shampoos, conditioners, and lotions.

This ingredient helps to build viscosity and improve sensory feel without synthetic polymers. In oil and gas drilling, it acts as a viscosifier in hydraulic fracturing fluids, suspending proppants.

It is also used for improving fluid recovery in industrial settings. Textile and paper processors use it as a sizing and finishing agent to improve fiber binding, surface strength, and print definition.

The product is supplied as a free-flowing off-white to cream-colored powder in a range of mesh sizes. Food-grade material is available to FCC specifications; pharmaceutical-grade supply meets USP standards.

The material also complies with Ph. Eur. standards for pharmaceutical applications. Industrial grades are offered for oilfield, textile, and paper applications with specific viscosity grades.

These grades are selected based on end-use hydration requirements. The versatility of this polysaccharide makes it an essential component for achieving desired textures and stability in diverse formulations.
