Description

Rutin (CAS 153-18-4), also known commercially as Venoruton, Tanrutin, and Sophorin, is a bioflavonoid glycoside sourced primarily from buckwheat and sophora japonica buds. In industry, it functions as an antioxidant and stabilizing agent across food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic formulations. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is a primary active ingredient in venous insufficiency treatments, capillary-strengthening tablets, and circulatory support supplements. Food and nutraceutical producers incorporate it into functional beverages and dietary capsules.

It is frequently used in fortified foods where antioxidant protection and label-friendly botanical positioning are priorities. In cosmetic formulations, it is used in serums, creams, and eye-area products for formula stabilization. The compound also functions as an oxidation inhibitor in food systems to extend the shelf life of fat-containing products. It provides skin-conditioning performance and antioxidant protection required for high-end personal care applications.

The material is supplied as a fine yellow to yellow-green powder in standard commercial quantities. Established grades include food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade specifications to ensure compliance with global industry requirements. Purity levels are commonly available at 95% and 98% as determined by HPLC. Both natural-extract and standardized botanical-source variants are available to meet different regulatory and labeling requirements across international markets.
