Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide
Description
Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (CAS 538-75-0), commonly known as DCC, is a coupling reagent used across pharmaceutical synthesis, peptide chemistry, and specialty chemical manufacturing.
It activates carboxylic acids for condensation reactions, enabling the formation of amide, ester, and peptide bonds under mild conditions for various industrial applications.
In pharmaceutical API synthesis, DCC drives amide bond formation in the production of active ingredients where selectivity and yield are critical procurement considerations.
Peptide manufacturers rely on it as a standard coupling agent in both solution-phase and solid-phase peptide synthesis workflows for high-efficiency chemical production.
In flavor and fragrance chemistry, DCC facilitates ester synthesis for aroma compound production where conventional acid-catalyzed routes are unsuitable for the final product.
Cosmetic formulators use it in the synthesis of specialty esters and functional ingredients requiring controlled reaction conditions to ensure the stability of the formulation.
DCC is supplied as a white to off-white crystalline solid. It is available in technical and high-purity reagent grades, with pharmaceutical-grade material meeting specifications.
The material is suitable for GMP synthesis environments. Packaging ranges from laboratory-scale quantities to bulk supply for large-scale industrial synthesis operations.
