Monopotassium phosphate

Monopotassium phosphate (CAS 7778-77-0), commonly sourced as MKP or E340i, is an inorganic potassium salt used across food, agricultural, and industrial sectors as a pH buffer, nutrient source, and sequestrant.

Its dual potassium and phosphorus content makes it a preferred input wherever both minerals must be delivered simultaneously in a controlled, soluble form. In food and beverage manufacturing, MKP functions as a buffering agent.

It is used in sports drinks, dairy products, and processed foods where pH consistency directly affects shelf life and texture. Fertilizer producers and hydroponic growers rely on it as a fully water-soluble NPK input.

This is particularly useful in drip irrigation and foliar feed systems where nutrient uptake efficiency is critical. Pharmaceutical formulators use it to prepare buffer solutions and as an excipient in oral preparations.
