Description

Sodium tartrate (CAS 868-18-8), the disodium salt of tartaric acid, is a mild alkaline salt used across food and pharmaceutical manufacturing as a buffering agent, chelating agent, and acidulant.

It stabilizes pH in sensitive formulations and binds metal ions that would otherwise degrade product quality or shelf life. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it functions as a buffering component in oral solutions and effervescent tablets.

This chemical is essential for laxative formulations where controlled pH is critical to active ingredient stability. Food producers use it to regulate acidity and improve texture in processed foods, confectionery, and beverages.

As a chelating agent, it sequesters calcium and magnesium ions in food processing environments, preventing unwanted mineral interactions in finished products. It also appears in analytical and laboratory reagents.

The compound is a key component in Fehling's solution, where consistent purity is a procurement requirement. It is supplied as a white crystalline powder or granules, available in both anhydrous and dihydrate forms.

Standard grades include food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade (USP/BP) specifications to meet regulatory requirements across target industries. This ensures compliance with international safety and quality protocols.

Packaging typically ranges from kilogram-scale bags to bulk quantities suited for industrial procurement. Our supply chain ensures that all batches meet rigorous testing standards for consistency and performance in your applications.
