Clove oil
Description
Clove oil (CAS 8000-34-8), also known as oil of cloves, is a steam-distilled essential oil derived from the buds, leaves, or stems of Syzygium aromaticum. It functions as a flavoring agent and natural preservative.
This versatile ingredient acts as an antimicrobial active across food, pharmaceutical, and personal care manufacturing. In food and beverage production, it delivers characteristic warm, spicy flavor to seasonings and sauces.
It is used in baked goods and meat products, carrying FEMA 2325 status for use as a recognized flavoring ingredient. Oral care formulators incorporate it into toothpastes and mouthwashes.
It is utilized in dental preparations for its antimicrobial action against oral pathogens. In personal care and fragrance, it contributes to perfume bases, soaps, and topical cosmetics for scent and preservation.
Home care and industrial cleaning products use it as a biocidal active in natural formulations targeting mold and bacteria. It is supplied as a mobile amber-to-brown liquid in drum and IBC quantities.
Smaller pack sizes are available for specialty buyers. Standard grades include food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade material, with quality typically referenced against eugenol content specifications.
Relevant pharmacopeial standards are maintained for all batches. BP and Ph. Eur. grades are available for pharmaceutical procurement channels to ensure full regulatory compliance.
