Sertraline hydrochloride
Description
Sertraline hydrochloride (CAS 79559-97-0), commonly referenced as sertraline HCl in pharmaceutical procurement, is the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) form of sertraline. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used in the manufacture of finished oral dosage forms. It is sourced by drug manufacturers and generic pharmaceutical producers.
The primary application is in the manufacture of oral solid dosage forms, including film-coated tablets and capsules, where sertraline HCl is the API at specified therapeutic concentrations. Generic pharmaceutical manufacturers source it to produce bioequivalent products following patent expiry of the originator brand. CDMOs use it in formulation development projects.
