Description

L-Proline (CAS 147-85-3) is a naturally occurring amino acid used commercially as a flavoring agent and humectant across food and personal care manufacturing. FEMA 3319-listed Proline is recognized as a flavor contributor in processed and fermented food systems.

It participates in Maillard browning reactions to develop characteristic roasted and baked notes. In food production, it is used in bakery, confectionery, and savory flavor formulations where controlled browning and taste development are required.

Fermented beverage and dairy manufacturers incorporate it to influence flavor profile depth in products such as beer, wine, and aged cheeses. In personal care, it functions as a humectant in skin-conditioning formulations like moisturizers and serums.

Its water-binding capacity supports texture and hydration claims in hair care products. Nutraceutical and dietary supplement producers also source it as an active ingredient in amino acid blends targeting collagen synthesis support.

L-Proline is supplied as a white crystalline powder. Food-grade and USP/Ph.Eur. grades are the most commercially prevalent, with food-grade material meeting FCC specifications for use in flavoring and nutritional applications.

Bulk quantities are available for industrial formulators, with smaller packaging options for specialty and nutraceutical manufacturers. This versatile amino acid meets rigorous standards for purity and performance in diverse industrial sectors.
